Elias Horn was born in Germany, in 1840, and first settled in Pennsylvania in 1820. He came to Ohio and settled in Lake Township, Ashland County, on the farm now owned by Jacob Kayler, and was engaged in farming all his life.
He was a member of the German Baptist church, and in Politics was a Democrat. He married Mary Foreman, of Pennsylvania, and after her death married Eve Mercer, of Pennsylvania. He died in 1823. He was the father of eight children, of whom only three are living, Frederick, Jacob, and Susanna
