George Kantzer Sr, born in Ellsos, France, September 27,1792; came to America in 1840, and settled on the farm now owned by his son George. He was a shoemaker, but when he came to America he gave up his trade and engaged in farming. He married Saloma Schmidt, who was born August 12,1797, in Ellsos, France. She died in January 1879. He was a member of the German Lutheran church, and in Politics a Democrat.
He was the father of five children. George, who married Catharine Taber; Salmona, who is the wife of Peter B. Long; Sophia, deceased, who was the wife of John Coble; John, who married Barbara Reinhardt, and afterward married Sophia Shaffer; and Margaret, who married Daniel Coble.
