Pvt. Howard R. Middling
Pvt. Middling Is Killed In Action


Word was received by Frank Middling, Nova route one, that his son, Pvt. Howard R. Middling, 25, has been killed in action in Italy.
Mr. Middling received this message from the Adjutant General:
"The Secretary of War desires to express his deep regret that your son, Pvt. Howard R. Middling was killed in action in defense of his country on Dec. 6, 1943 in Italy"
Pvt. Middling was inducted into service June 9, 1941 and had been overseas since April of this year. He was a member of the Fifth Army and had been transferred from North Africa to Italy.
He was born in Nova and attended Nova high school. He is survived by his father, a brother Chester, S. 2-C, Grosse Ile, Michigan and five sisters’, Mrs. Edna Cross, Marguerite and Marie of Ashland, Viola and Erva Jean of Elyria. His mother, and two sisters, Alice and Fairy Mae, preceded him in death. His mother died Feb. 22 of this year.
