Machinist's Mate Second Class E.G. Ritchey Was Killed In Action.


Edward G. Ritchey, Machinist's Mate Second class, 23, has been killed in action, his wife Marie of Nashville has learned in a telegram from the War Department. Ritchey is the 45th Ashland countian to die in service.
Neither his wife nor his mother, Mrs. Amy Haudenschild of Loudonville Route 3, know the details of the action in which Ritchey lost his life.
A graduate of Loudonville High School, class of 1939, Ritchey was employed in the parts department of the Flxible Company at the time he entered the U. S. Navy, September 25, 1942. He took boot training at Great Lakes, Ill., and later reported for duty at Norfolk, Virginia. Ritchey had been in Sicily and the South Pacific.
