Howard E. Drushel
S./Sgt. Drushel Killed In Action In Germany


S/Sgt. Howard E. Drushel has been killed in action according to word just received by his wife, Mrs. Helen Drushel of 330 Lindale avenue, in a telegram from the War Department. He is the 70th Ashland Countian to die while in service.
S/Sgt. Drushel had just returned to duty February 27, after being wounded in action in Luxembourg on February 5, and was killed in action on March 30, in Germany.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Drushel of Route 2, he was born in Ashland October 28, 1918, and graduated from Ashland High School in 1936. He was employed as a truckman hauling steel for the Detroit-Pittsburg Motor Freight Company before entering the service on May 5, 1944. He took 17 weeks' basic training at Camp Croft, South Carolina, after which he was in training at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, and was sent overseas on November 22, 1944. He spent Thanksgiving on the water and later landed in England, after which he was in France, Luxembourg and Germany.
