Cpl. Miller Is Killed
T/5 Robert E. Miller 20 was killed in action in Germany on April 18, 1945.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion H. Miller of Route 3, he entered service September 25, 1943, going to North Carolina, where he was with anti-aircraft, later transferring to the Infantry as a half-trac driver. He was sent overseas from Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, on October 30, 1944.
Cpl. Miller started his combat with the First Army, Third "Spearhead" Division. A graduate of Ashland High School, class of 44, Cpl. Miller was in camp on commencement night and was graduated by telephone.
Born in Ashland county February 8, 1925, he spent his boyhood here, until reporting for duty. He was a member of the church of the Brethren, Third Street. Cpl. Miller is survived by his parents, his brother, Sgt. Howard R. Miller, at Fort Ord, California, his sister Marilyn and his grandmother, Mrs. E.E. Harper of Rt. 2
His death brings to 79 the total of Ashland countians to give their lives while in service.
