World War 2

Forest L. Devore
Killed In Action At Sea

Next of kin of two more Ashland soldiers have been notified by the War department that it has now been definitely established that they were "killed in action."
One being Pfc. Forest L. Devore, 37 husband of Mrs. Dorothy O. Devore, 270 Ashland Avenue.
In March of this year (1944) it was announced that he was among those lost at sea when a troop transport was sunk. The ship was lost Nov. 27, 1943 somewhere in the Mediterranean area.
Pfc. Devore was inducted in service Jan. 5, 1943 and received his basic training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was an employee of the Ashland Malleable Co. prior to entering the service.
