This center Street house was built in approximately 1905 by a man by the name of Brubaker. He had a hardware business in Ashland. The home has a beautiful, wide foyer and a fabulous staircase in the center of the home. There is a second staircase on the south side of the home in an area that was probably the butler's quarters.I believe the home was put into apartments at one time because there was a 220 line in one of the bedrooms.
During one period of time, a Mrs. Bear had a tea and herb room in the little garage in the back. This building was probably the carriage house at one time.
