ASHLAND COUNTY, OHIO MARRIAGE RECORDS, PROBATE COURT VOLUME 4, 1870 -
1878 AND VOLUME 5, 1878 - 1886
This publication was compiled for the Chapter by Don and Lucille Boyd,
assisted by Linda Funk.
This abstract of the Ashland County, Ohio Probate Court marriage records
cover the years 1870 to 1886. Neither Volume 4, nor Volume 5 of the
Probate Court original marriage records contained a female index and the
male index was not complete.
This book abstracts the following marriage record information: page
number, date of marriage, full name of male and female as written in the
original record.
The letter - A - following a date denotes the marriage license
application date. The couple may have married but the official who
married them did not return a marriage date. It is also possible a
marriage license was applied for, but the marriage never took place.
Within this book Volume 4 appears first beginning with Feb 1870 and ends
with 17 Oct 1878; followed by Volume 5 beginning with 18 Oct 1878 and
ends with 3 December 1886.
Within each volume the males are listed first, alphabetically and then
the females, also alphabetically.
THE 1870 CENSUS INDEX, ASHLAND COUNTY, OHIO; perfect bound, 55 page
index to the 1870 census of Ashland County, contains full name of the
head of the household (along with others in the household with a different
surname), township/town, and page number where that household will be
found on the census microfilm, $9.00.
